Writing Retreats with The Writing Room
The Writing Room has been running writing mentorships, courses and retreats since 2006. We understand the quiet magic sometimes needed to write and after years of running writing courses, we ran our first retreat in Greece in 2016.
Author and literary agent Sarah Bullen was living on the Greek island of Lesbos when her authors started to join her to write for the summer. It grew from there. Close to a decade later we go back to Greece every summer for a long writing residency. Most years we also run a retreat in Cape Town, Lamu and France.

You will meet a supportive community, have a lot of fun and make friends for life. You may also finally write that book.
Join us if you need dedicated time away from your ordinary life to totally immerse yourself in a creative and supportive environment.

The Writing Room has been running deep writing immersions since 2016 with writers, poets and friends all over the world. We have an annual retreat in Greece, Cape Town and Tuscany. Join literary agent Sarah Bullen and guests to get support, write and have an immersive creative holiday.

McGregor, South Africa
11 - 15 March
4 - 8 November
We retreat twice a year in South Africa, and we are going back to the small village of McGregor. It is outside Cape Town, a two-hour drive away. A mixed series of classes will give you craft input, while we carve out quiet time to retreat and write.

A MIDSUMMER WRITING RETREAT OUTSIDE CAPE TOWN
You don’t need to be a writer or to have a grand project in progress.
You can be working on a novel, memoir, poetry, workbook, online course, photography-based book, life story or just a creative writing project.
Or you may simply choose to absorb the other-worldliness of the land while your story brews.
Literary agent and writing mentor Sarah Bullen has been supporting writers in The Writing Room since 2006 and knows that great things most often come from getting quiet, and finally immersing in your story.

A writing retreat is where creativity finds its voice, stories unfold, and the whispers of inspiration become a book
